AWS Consulting in Cambridge

Practical help with Amazon Web Services for Cambridge businesses already on it or heading there. AWS offers more than two hundred services and roughly six ways to run a container, which is its strength and the reason most estates end up over-built and over-billed.

Why this comes up

The problem

AWS rewards knowing which of its many services you do not need. Teams reach for the sophisticated option because it exists, and end up operating infrastructure far more complex than the workload justifies.

What you get

What we deliver

  • A review of what you run against what the workload actually requires
  • Well-Architected assessment covering security, reliability, cost and operations
  • Simplification recommendations — usually fewer services rather than more
  • IAM tightened from long-lived keys to roles with scoped, temporary permissions
  • Reserved capacity and Savings Plans modelled against your real usage pattern
  • Guidance your own team can act on, with the reasoning explained not just the change

Working in Cambridge

East of England

Cambridge has the densest deep-tech and biotech cluster in the country, so briefs here are frequently technical from the first conversation and the interesting problems are rarely the obvious ones.

Deep-tech and biotech clients bring genuinely technical briefs, often involving data pipelines, instrumentation or research tooling.

AWS Consulting in Cambridge — common questions

Our AWS bill keeps rising. Where does it usually go?
Most often idle or over-provisioned compute, storage nobody deleted, unattached volumes and snapshots, and data transfer between availability zones that a placement change would remove. Egress charges surprise people too. Those five account for the bulk of what we find.
ECS, EKS or Lambda?
For most business workloads ECS on Fargate is the sensible default — containers without operating a cluster. EKS earns its operational overhead when you genuinely need Kubernetes. Lambda suits event-driven and spiky work. Choosing Kubernetes because it is the serious option is a common and costly mistake.
Do we need multi-region?
Almost certainly not. Multi-region roughly doubles complexity and cost, and a single region with multiple availability zones covers the failure modes most businesses actually face. It is worth it for genuine regulatory or latency requirements, not for reassurance.
Are you an AWS partner?
We work across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud rather than being tied to one, which is deliberate — a recommendation to use AWS should come from your requirements rather than from our partner status.
Do you work with businesses across Cambridgeshire?
Yes. We are based in Leicester, United Kingdom and work with clients throughout East of England, including Cambridge and the surrounding Cambridgeshire area. Most collaboration happens remotely, and we travel for kick-offs and key milestones.
What kind of Cambridge businesses do you usually work with?
Deep-tech and biotech clients bring genuinely technical briefs, often involving data pipelines, instrumentation or research tooling. Beyond that we work across Technology, Life Sciences, Research, Higher Education and Biotech.
Do you cover the areas around Cambridge?
Yes — we work throughout East of England, including Norwich, Milton Keynes, London, Northampton. Cambridge is an urban area of roughly 150,000+, and we take on work across the wider Cambridgeshire region rather than the city boundary alone.
