Structured Cabling · Cambridge

Structured Cabling in Cambridge

Data cabling installed and certified properly across your Cambridge premises — Cat6 or Cat6a to the desk, fibre between floors or buildings, terminated into labelled patch panels. It is the layer everything else depends on, and the one most likely to have been done by whoever was cheapest.

Why this comes up

The problem

Bad cabling produces intermittent faults that look like software problems for months. Nobody suspects a poorly terminated cable until every other explanation has been ruled out expensively.

What you get

What we deliver

  • Cat6 or Cat6a to each outlet, specified against what the run actually needs
  • Fibre backbone between floors, buildings or comms rooms where distance demands it
  • Every run tested and certified to standard, with the results handed to you
  • Patch panels and outlets labelled at both ends, matching a documented schedule
  • Containment and routing that keeps data away from power interference
  • A cabinet left tidy and documented rather than a bundle nobody dares touch

Working in Cambridge

East of England

Cambridge has the densest deep-tech and biotech cluster in the country, so briefs here are frequently technical from the first conversation and the interesting problems are rarely the obvious ones.

Deep-tech and biotech clients bring genuinely technical briefs, often involving data pipelines, instrumentation or research tooling.

Structured Cabling in Cambridge — common questions

Is Cat6a worth the extra over Cat6?
For most office runs, no — Cat6 handles gigabit comfortably and 10 gigabit over short distances. Cat6a earns its cost on long runs, between comms rooms, or where you genuinely expect 10 gigabit to the desk. We will tell you which of those applies rather than defaulting to the more expensive one.
Why does certification matter?
It is the difference between a cable that works today and one proven to specification. Certified results give you evidence when a fault appears later, and they catch the marginal terminations that would otherwise fail intermittently for years.
Can you cable an occupied building?
Yes. Most of the work happens above ceilings and in risers, and the disruptive parts get scheduled around you. Full floors are usually done in sections rather than all at once.
Will you tidy the existing cabinet while you are there?
If you want it done, yes, and it is usually worth doing at the same time. Adding tidy new cabling into a cabinet nobody can trace preserves the problem you were trying to solve.
Do you work with businesses across Cambridgeshire?
Yes. We are based in Leicester, United Kingdom and work with clients throughout East of England, including Cambridge and the surrounding Cambridgeshire area. Most collaboration happens remotely, and we travel for kick-offs and key milestones.
What kind of Cambridge businesses do you usually work with?
Deep-tech and biotech clients bring genuinely technical briefs, often involving data pipelines, instrumentation or research tooling. Beyond that we work across Technology, Life Sciences, Research, Higher Education and Biotech.
Do you cover the areas around Cambridge?
Yes — we work throughout East of England, including Norwich, Milton Keynes, London, Northampton. Cambridge is an urban area of roughly 150,000+, and we take on work across the wider Cambridgeshire region rather than the city boundary alone.
