- With checkpoints written to persistent storage at regular intervals. A twelve-hour run with no checkpoints on interruptible capacity is a bet, and losing it means paying twice for the same work with no result from the first attempt.

- Instances nobody switched off. A GPU left running after an experiment finishes costs the same as one doing useful work, and without an owner and a review it can continue for weeks before anyone examines the bill.
