Merchandise Design in Cambridge
Branded clothing and promotional items for Cambridge businesses — workwear, event merchandise, staff kit and things given away. Each production method has its own limits, and a logo that works on a screen frequently cannot be embroidered at chest size without losing half its detail.
Why this comes up
The problem
The same artwork gets sent for embroidery, screen printing and engraving. Fine detail disappears in stitching, gradients cannot be screen printed cheaply, and the result looks like a poor copy of the brand.
What you get
What we deliver
- Artwork adapted per production method rather than supplied once for everything
- A simplified single-colour mark for embroidery, where fine detail cannot survive
- Colours matched to thread and ink references, which differ from your print values
- Garment and product recommendations against how the item will actually be used
- Placement and sizing specified, since chest, sleeve and back all need different artwork
- Production files supplied to your supplier's specification, including digitised embroidery files

Working in Cambridge
East of England
Cambridge has the densest deep-tech and biotech cluster in the country, so briefs here are frequently technical from the first conversation and the interesting problems are rarely the obvious ones.
Deep-tech and biotech clients bring genuinely technical briefs, often involving data pipelines, instrumentation or research tooling.

Merchandise Design in Cambridge — common questions
- Why can our logo not just be embroidered as it is?
- Stitching cannot hold fine lines, small text or gradients. Below a certain size, detail merges into a blur. Most brands need a simplified embroidery version — same identity, fewer elements — and it is worth having that made once rather than per order.
- Embroidery or print on workwear?
- Embroidery lasts longer and reads as more established, which suits polos and jackets. Screen printing is cheaper at volume and handles detail and colour better, which suits t-shirts and giveaways. Durability against cost is the real decision.
- Will the colours match our brand exactly?
- Close, not exact. Thread and ink references are separate systems from print colour, and fabric colour affects the result underneath. We match to the nearest reference and flag where a difference will be noticeable.
- Do you supply the products?
- We supply artwork; a garment or promotional supplier produces. Using someone with in-house digitising for embroidery usually gives a better result than sending files to whoever is cheapest.
- Do you work with businesses across Cambridgeshire?
- Yes. We are based in Leicester, United Kingdom and work with clients throughout East of England, including Cambridge and the surrounding Cambridgeshire area. Most collaboration happens remotely, and we travel for kick-offs and key milestones.
- What kind of Cambridge businesses do you usually work with?
- Deep-tech and biotech clients bring genuinely technical briefs, often involving data pipelines, instrumentation or research tooling. Beyond that we work across Technology, Life Sciences, Research, Higher Education and Biotech.
- Do you cover the areas around Cambridge?
- Yes — we work throughout East of England, including Norwich, Milton Keynes, London, Northampton. Cambridge is an urban area of roughly 150,000+, and we take on work across the wider Cambridgeshire region rather than the city boundary alone.
