AI Security in Reading
Securing AI systems for Reading organisations against failures conventional controls do not cover. The one that surprises teams is prompt injection: any system that reads untrusted content — emails, documents, web pages — can have instructions smuggled into it, and there is no complete defence, only containment.
Why this comes up
The problem
An AI feature has access to internal systems and reads content from outside the organisation, and nobody has considered what happens when those two facts meet.
What you get
What we deliver
- Untrusted input identified wherever it reaches a model
- Permissions scoped to the user, so the system cannot exceed what they may access
- Actions with consequences gated behind confirmation rather than taken autonomously
- Output treated as untrusted where it feeds another system or is rendered
- Data flows documented, including what leaves your estate and to whom
- Logging sufficient to investigate, balanced against what is safe to retain

Working in Reading
South East
Reading anchors the Thames Valley technology corridor, and local firms are often part of large enterprise supply chains where security review and integration standards are set by someone else.
Work here usually has to satisfy someone else's security and integration standards, because clients sit inside larger enterprise supply chains.

AI Security in Reading — common questions
- What is prompt injection?
- Instructions hidden in content the system processes — a document, a web page, an email — that the model follows as though they came from you. Since models cannot reliably distinguish data from instruction, the defence is limiting what the system can do rather than filtering inputs.
- How is it contained?
- By assuming it will happen. Give the system only the access the requesting user already has, require confirmation before consequential actions, and treat anything it produces as untrusted. Then a successful injection is contained within permissions the attacker could have used anyway.
- What about data leaving the organisation?
- It needs mapping. Retrieval systems assembled quickly often send more context to a provider than intended, including documents the requesting user should never see. What is sent, what is retained and whether it trains anything are questions with contractual answers worth checking.
- Do conventional security practices still apply?
- All of them, and they remain the larger share of the risk. Credentials, dependencies, access control and network position matter as much here as anywhere. AI-specific concerns are additions to that work, not a replacement for it.
- Do you work with businesses across Berkshire?
- Yes. We are based in Leicester, United Kingdom and work with clients throughout South East, including Reading and the surrounding Berkshire area. Most collaboration happens remotely, and we travel for kick-offs and key milestones.
- What kind of Reading businesses do you usually work with?
- Work here usually has to satisfy someone else's security and integration standards, because clients sit inside larger enterprise supply chains. Beyond that we work across Technology, Telecommunications, Financial Services and Professional Services.
- Do you cover the areas around Reading?
- Yes — we work throughout South East, including Oxford, London, Milton Keynes, Southampton. Reading is an urban area of roughly 340,000+, and we take on work across the wider Berkshire region rather than the city boundary alone.
